28th Annual Lion's Tyke Tournament
Wasaga Stars Tyke #2 First ever Hockey Tournament......

It all started on January 30th with the stars traveling to a town called Simcoe for a 7pm game against the Glanbrook Bruins. The kids were excited to get on the ice and start the weekend with there first win. The stars played well and came out with a 4-2 victory. It was time to head back to the hotel and get some food and ready for bed as they had an early start the next day with game two at 8am against the Simcoe Penguins. This game was a big test for the stars as they were playing against the home team and they wanted to show the home town fans what they could do. This game went back and forth for most of the game with both teams going goal for goal. It wasn't until the late stages of the third period when Emersyn took charge and scored 3 straight goals to lead the team to a 8-6 win. Everyone (including the parents) were glowing with pride and accomplishment and headed back to the hotel for some fun in the pool and mini sticks in the common room. It wasn't long before the kids had to pack up the gear and head back to the rink for a 2pm game, last one of the day. Game three was against Hagersville. It was time to show what the stars were all about in this game. They played hard with focus, perfect passing and awesome back checking. The end result was a 9-0 win giving the team a third straight win and Jonathan his second career shutout. WooooHoooo....three games down with three wins and a top of our pool. Next game will be the first elimination game. It is now Sunday morning and after a very busy but fun Saturday it was time to get ready for our 10am game against another home team-the Simcoe Canucks. The canucks came out strong and got on the board early but the stars team weren't going to have any of it. With the way they were playing it didn't take long for the team to get on the board with a total of 8 goals for and Jonathan "Quick" Turner only allowing the single goal. At this point we new our next game would be the toughest yet.......Elmvale. This was by far the best game the kids have played this year . They came together and they new what had to be done. The start of the game seen Elmvale shooting puck after puck against Jonathan Turner and he was up to the task. After the first period Elmvale was leading 3-0 . The second period saw the Wasaga Stars push back and for check which resulted in 3 goals and 2 more for Elmvale. The stars just could keep up and fell shut a bit short on this day losing 6-3.
We had some strong performances, to many to list....the coaches are extremely proud to coach such a great punch of kids.
That was a small recap of the games that the kids played and they ALL deserve a huge pat on the back and high fives for they way they played and the way they represented the Wasaga Beach Stars Organization.
