Wasaga Stars Tyke 3 Play Their First Tournament
The Stars visit Hanover and play their first tournament at the P&H Centre.

It was a action packed weekend for the Stars as they played 3 games on Sunday.  For many of the players it was their first time experiencing tournament hockey.   Hanover Minor Hockey and the great facilities at the P&H Center did not disappoint as the event was well received by all the teams.

The Stars managed to get in some pre game practice with their mini sticks in the halls of the motel before being shut down by the motel police but this did nothing to dampen their excitement for the rest of the night.

It was an early start on Sunday morning as the Stars faced Waterloo and came up with a big win.

The second game of the day was against the host team,  Hanover.   The Stars fell short in this match losing a hard fought battle.

The third game of the day was against Twin City and the Stars showed what they were made of by bouncing back from their earlier loss and winning the game convincingly.

The Stars played with an lot of heart and enthusiasm the entire day.  With a short bench everyone stepped up and played their best hockey of the year, the coaching staff could not be more proud of the effort all the players demonstrated.

Player of the game awards were handed out after each match.  Avery McNamara, Serenity Ferrari and Christian Markic were acknowledged for their excellent overall play and rewarded with a Hanover Falcons water bottle.

Avery McNamara played some of his best hockey of the year and demonstrated why the younger players look up to him.   His offensive skills (17 goals) and relentless back checking did not go unnoticed as he earned the coveted yellow hard hat for the tournament.

The end of the event was capped off with a medal presented to each player.  The smiles on their face was priceless.

The Stars face their sister teams on home ice this weekend and look forward to playing against their friends for the first time.   Go Stars!
