Wasaga Stars Tyke 1 End The Regular Season With a Big Win
The Stars were on the road vs the Essa Eagles on Saturday and put together a great team effort to come home with a win.

Coach Matt introduced some great break outs over the past 2 practices and the team put to use what they learned. Cycling through the neutral zone and receiving bank passes from the defence resulted in several break aways for Christian Markic and Kate Stuart only to be denied by a red hot Eagles goalie.   When no players were open for a pass Landon Tardif and Jake Lavers made some exciting rushes from their end which led to some great scoring opportunities.

On the defensive side, Cole Rouse prevented a sure goal for the Eagles as he positioned himself perfectly in front of the net and cleared a loose puck that was sure to go in.  Hudson Bradford played his first game in net and played fantastic giving up only one goal with help from his always reliable defensemen, Miller Black and Kingston Inman

Each shift was played like it was there last and the hustle the kids showed was inspiring.  The Eagles were left grounded and couldn’t match the Stars relentless fore checking or as Coach Matt would call it “Grinding”.   Meckenzie Brannigan and Gavin Sorensen were strong at center leaning hard on their sticks and winning key face offs all game. Connor Wyeville traded in his goalie pads for todays game and played a great on the wing.  Jack Cameron was called up to the big show from Chip demonstrating how ready he is for a full season of Tyke hockey next year.

There were 3 goal scores for the Stars as Kate Stuart, Jake Lavers and Locklin Diver each scored 1 for the home team with assists coming from Meckenzie Brannigan and Gavin Sorensen. Second effort, team work and great positional play were all key factors in today’s game.  Great job by everyone.

The Stars finish off their hockey season with a home tournament this weekend.

           Go Stars.
