PLAYOFF February 6 VS Collingwood Blackhawks 2
Submitted By Chris Olson on Tuesday, February 9, 2016
The Wasaga Stars came to the rink fired up for their playoff opener versus the Collingwood Blackhawks, and didn't let up till the final buzzer.

Wasaga carried much of the play throughout the game, but faced a hot Collingwood goaltender and were kept off the scoreboard through period one. The Stars kept their foot on the gas with sustained pressure in the offensive zone, and Center Jacob Curtis(1G,1A) finally got things rolling in the second frame and tied the score at 1-1. Joey Monohan (2G) and Devon Jessup (1G,2A) once again proved a potent combination, as Jessup assisted on a Monohan goal to put Wasaga in the lead. Moments into the third period, defenseman Nathan Olson (1G,1A) accepted a pass from Jack LeBlond(1A) and stickhandled his way through several defenders to score a dazzler and increase the lead.

Things got tense when Collingwood notched two quick goals to draw the teams even at three apiece. Wasaga, however, went right back on the offense: dynamo Joey Monohan ripped home his second goal of the game, assisted by winger Zaida MacDonald (1A). With two minutes remaining, tireless center Devon Jessup put this game to bed with his third point of the game and forechecker Jacob Curtis drawing the assist.

An excellent effort for the Wasaga Stars and a great start to the playoffs!
