End of The Year
The Stars lose a heart breaker in the GBMHL Championship versus Midland

It was a marathon season for the Stars as they played in both the OHMHA and GBMHL finals this year.   So much hockey and great experiences that the kids will take with them throughout their hockey careers.

The GBMHL finals was scheduled for a best of 3 series and the teams could not be more evenly matched.   The Stars won the first game 4-3 with Emerson scoring the winning goal with less than a second left of the clock.

The second game ended in a 2-1 win for Midland to tie the series.  Aeden earned the Wasaga Warrior belt for his strong defensive play.

Game 3 was an epic battle that ended in regulation at 3-3.  A 10-min sudden death overtime period was played with both teams having some great scoring chances but remained tied to force a fourth and final game to decide the overall championship.  Grayson played hard along the boards and scored a great goal earning him the Wasaga Warrior belt on this night.

Game four started off quick for the Stars with a couple of strong offensive opportunities, but were denied by a hot goal tender.  The first period ended 1-1.  The second period ended with two more goals for both teams taking a 3-3 tie into the third period.

Midland scored two quick goals in the third to take a 5-3 lead.   The Stars battled back scoring one of their own to get it to within one.   In the dying seconds the Stars pressed hard and gave it everything they had but Midland managed to hold off the Stars and win the Georgian Bay Championship 5-4.  A dramatic end to a great series.

Every one of the Stars played with heart and gave it all they had.   The Warrior belt could have easily gone to any one of the players in this game.   The belt has always represented hard work, determination and commitment to the team.

It’s only fitting that on the last game of the year the team recognized the commitment and dedication of Coach Steve and his bench staff who were there for every practice, game and road trip this season.  Thank you, for bringing out the very best in every one of our Stars and pushing them to their limits, by praising them for a job well done and holding them accountable when necessary.  Everything they did was in the best interest of the team and for that they earned the Wasaga Warrior belt.

Go Stars!
