Wasaga Beach Atom #2 vs Penetang Flames #2
In the 8th game of the season the Stars took to the road to take on the Penetang Flames and wanted to avenge their only loss of the season suffered at the hands of the same Flames team back in game six.

The game was a tight checking affair throughout the first period and each team traded chances with both goalies coming up big.  As in the first game against the Flames it was the Stars who struck first with a goal by Zij M with an assist going to Emma P.  After the goal the Stars finished period strong, lead by the strong play of Heather R who seemed to be in on every play when she was on the ice.

The 2nd period did not go well for the Stars and #44 for Flames lead the way as he did in the first game.  With an assist and a goal #44 helped the Flames to a 2 - 1 lead. After a late period penalty by Andrew G of the Stars the Flames scored their fourth goal of the game on the power-play to end the period with a 4 -1 lead.

The Stars came out in the 3rd with a little bit of desperation and Ben P scored a goal assisted by Jacob D to cut the lead down to two goals but #44 of the Flames crushed the Stars hope of a comeback with another goal and assist in the period.  The Stars had little fight left but managed to score one more goal by Jack B with an assist going to Evan H.

In the end the Stars fell 7 -3 to the Flames and it was not a happy locker room after the game.  Coach Mike stressed that the team needs to keep their heads up when they get down a few goals and keep pressing the puck and playing a team game.  Heather R was recognized for her all around effort on the ice and for this she was awarded with player of the game honours.

Next up the Stars take to the road to play their first tournament of the season.

Go Stars Go.
