Wasaga Beach Atom #2 vs Coldwater #1 and #2
The Atom #2 team traveled to Coldwater on back to back days to take on the each of the Wildcat teams and came away on the wrong end of identical game scores.

In the first game of the weekend the #2 team from Coldwater was the opponent and they demonstrated why they tops in the standings of the Local League.  The Stars played strong through the first few minutes of the game but once the Wildcats got rolling they steamrolled the Stars.  The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead before Zach P cut the deficit in half with a goal assisted by Evan H.  The Wildcats continued to put pressure on the Stars and by the end of the first period they lead 4-1 and at the end of the second period they upped their lead to 6-1.

In between the second and third period Coach Mike implored the team to keep pressure on the puck and play more consistent through the remaining 15 minutes.  Jacob D seemed to take his coaches word to heart and played a very strong third period, working very nicely with his line mates to dominate puck possession while they where on the ice.  With just over 5 minutes remaining in the game the Stars notched their second goal of the game.  The goal came from Ben P with assists going to Adam C and Jackson R.  In the end though the Wildcats overpowered the Stars with the final score coming in at 9-2.

The second game of the weekend meant the undefeated #1 team from Coldwater was the opponent.  Coach Mike was much more direct with the team prior to going on the ice and stressed the need to play a complete game and to make sure the each member of the team play right to the whistle with a a consistent effort no matter the score.  The Stars came out with a little more pep in their step to begin the game and it showed on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal by Zij M and another by Evan H assisted by Ben P.  The aggressive play of the Stars also showed in terms of penalties and they ended up taking two minor penalties and the Wildcats used them to their advantage and at the end of the first period lead 3-2.

The remainder of the game did not go the Stars way and #99 and #29 of the Wildcats lead their team to a 9-2 victory dropping the Stars to a 0.500 record on the season at 4-4-3.

For the weekend the coaching staff recognized Jacob D as player of the game for his strong back-checking and puck possession in game 1 and Jack B was awarded player of the game in game 2 for his play in front of the net and effort right to the whistle throughout the game.

Up next the Stars will be participating in the one day home tournament.

Go Stars Go.
