STARS SWEEP ARTHUR TOURNAMENT
Congratulations to the entire Stars team and fans. Today the team won the championship in the Arthur tournament, coming back from a 2-0 Arthur lead in the 1st period.
Shayne's goaltending was superb for the entire tournament and all four defensemen cleared a lot of heavy traffic from in front of their net and held firm on their blue line to support offense, often lending a hand with some strong shots from the point. This helped set the foundation for the Stars offense to attack throughout the tournament.
In the final game, the Stars didn't allow a 2-0 deficit to get them down. Griffin, battling several players from center ice to the hash marks, broke free from the group and with an absolutely stunning shot, opened up the Wasaga scoring. A great team effort led to victory, with goals being scored by the Captain and each of the 3 Assistant Captains, fantastic leadership.
Although there were penalties throughout the tournament, the Wasaga Stars kept their cool through some very trying plays. The team's "hydration and nutrition" plan proved to be effective, with not only a line up before the game, but a couple escapes to the dressing room throughout the game as well....overall intake volumes as well as timing may be reconsidered in future tournaments :)
