The Wasaga Stars Atom #2 team opened their season at home and started off the season with a strong offensive performance versus the Essa Eagles #1. The home team dominated puck possession and spread the wealth of scoring around with 11 different players making their mark on the score sheet.
The game started off very competitively with Jacob D. assisting Ben P. on scoring the only goal of the open period. The Stars gained momentum in the second period with Jack B., Heather R., adding goals along with two more for Ben P. and the Stars lead 5-0 at the end of the period. The coaches encouraged the team to play a selfless game in the 3rd period and work on passing the puck around to continue to develop their game and the team continued to add to the score sheet with goals by Jack B., Zij M. (his first career goal), Andrew D. (2), Jackson R., Ben P. (2).
The team played strong defensively throughout the game and goalie Gavin S. was strong when called upon and in the end the final score was 12-1 in favour of the Stars.
Player of the game honours were bestowed upon Zij M. for playing a strong defensive game and scoring his first career goal.
