Game #2 vs Midland Centennials #1
Following their opening game loss to start the season, the day before, the Stars team took on the the Midland Centennials at home to try and even their record for the season.

The Stars team started the game with a little fire in their bellies and appeared to take the the lesson from the day before of "Compete for the puck" to heart and it showed throughout the 1st period.  Even with Ben P. taking the first penalty of the season for the Stars a couple minutes into the game the team fought hard on the penalty kill and came away unscathed.  As the period was coming to a close the Stars finally capitalized on one of their chances and took a 1-0 lead with a slap shot from the point by #12 Andrew G with the assist going to #8 Logan T.

The Stars continued the assault into the beginning of the 2nd period and took a 2-0 lead on a goal by #20 Zij M. with assists going to #8 Logan T. and #14 Jackson R.  The Stars continued to play strong into the middle of the period and their goalie Revan V made a number of outstanding saves to keep the Centennials off the score sheet.  It was then that the luster started to come off the Stars game.  Whether it was the back to back games to start the season and the team was tired or that they got a little complacent, the Centennials began to take advantage of the Stars mistakes and in flurry of four minutes scored three goals to take a lead 3-2 at the conclusion of the period.

After the teams traded a few penalties during the first half of the 3rd period the Stars finally took one penalty too many and with just under 3 minutes remaining the Midland team secured the victory with a power play goal and finished things off with another a couple minutes later with the final score coming in at 5-2.

The Stars were a little deflated entering the dressing room following the game, and they had every right to be, considering they had blown a 2 goal lead but the positive side of things was that they had staked themselves to that lead and showed what type of game they were capable of and in particular they could rely on their goalie and therefore the coaching staff recognized their goalie, #16 Revan V as player of the game.

GO STARS GO!

Congrats Revan!
