The Wasaga Stars closed out their season with perhaps
their best performance so far. Penetang struck first, only to have the Stars
draw even on a rocket to the top corner from team Captain Matthew Dore. After
the Flames pulled ahead with a second goal, Wasaga appeared to again knot
the score on laser from rushing center Aiden Frazer; however, the ruling on the
ice was no goal and the deflated Stars could not recover.
The Atom AE Stars have
continually elevated their game over the course of the season and ended the
playoffs with another great effort and heads held
high.

The big ice surface at the Eddie Bush arena made for a
fast-paced contest that featured superb passing and end-to-end action as the
Stars dropped a 3-0 decision to Collingwood. Netminder Noah Marsh looked sharp
and made several heart-stopping saves, wingers Sam Collie and Cole Rumbolt were
fired up and checked relentlessly, and Cole Sacerty took home Hardest Working
Player honors.

Wasaga came hungry and ready to play, but found
themselves unable to score in a frustrating loss to Shelburne. Tireless team
captain Matthew Dore left it all on the ice, with solid play in the defensive
end and several exciting end-to-end rushes. Keegan Brannigan once again proved
relentless and came close to lighting the lamp, while Trevor Hutchinson earned
Hardest Working Player honors with a superb two-way effort.

The Georgian Shores Lightning hung on to the early lead for
the win after the never-say-die Wasaga Stars came storming back in the third
period. Hardest Working Player Keiran Fancett (1A) led the rally, notching an
assist on a goal by sniper Aiden Frazer (1G). Also scoring for the Stars was
Cole Sacerty (1G) on the pass from Mercedes Caldas (1A). Playmaker Jesse
Charbonneau (2A) helped quarterback the offensive surge, drawing assists on both
Wasaga goals.

Game 2 of the round robin was a raucous affair with
plenty of action at both ends of the ice. Cole Sacerty (1G) scored the Star's
lone goal unassisted on a quick shot after a brilliant rush up the right side.
Blueliner Mia MacNicol put in a clutch performance that included a diving play
to stop what looked like a sure goal, and defensive stalwart Keegan Brannigan
was relentless and earned Hardest Working Player honors.
