Southwest Bullets, John Horvat Memorial Novice LL Tournament, January 16/17, 2016
The team took part in their away tournament in Boswell, near Chatham, on January 16th and 17th, 2016
Lukas and Jack used their offensive skills to make the opposing goalies work hard every game and were both rewarded with their first goals of the season. Jack’s goal came on his birthday!
Lexus did a great job in her role of centre and consistently went after the puck. Isabella G., Jackson, Nick and Kaleb continue to improve with every game and worked hard to keep the puck in the opposing end and pressure opposition forwards in the defensive end. Logan and Jacob skated hard every game and both had great takeaways on opposing forwards to steal possession from the opposition.
The defense core of Andrew, Chyna, Isabella B., Emma and Damien did a great job all weekend, limiting teams to very few goals. Damien, Bella, Andrew and Chyna all had shots on nets during break way plays, and Andrew scored his first goal of the season off of an end-to-end rush. The hustle and solid effort from the defense was consistent all weekend.
Mateo was a solid and consistent goalie in all 3 games, and his strong play was even commented on by opposing coaches. He had many excellent saves and faced strong shooters. Mateo stayed calm under pressure in our team's first ever shootout.
Overall the team had a great time and a very exciting tournament!
