Wasaga Stars Tyke 1 played their first game of the season !
The Stars were shining bright in Stayner Sunday afternoon as the Cyclones were reduced to a mid day breeze.

The Stars made their way onto the ice ready to play, cheering and chanting, letting their presence be felt throughout the whole arena.  Friends and family came out to show their support and took away any home ice advantage for the Cyclones.

The action was fast and furious at both ends of the ice.   Connor Wyville  was between the pipes playing his first regular season game and was fantastic making several big league saves.   The defensive pairings of Miller Black, Cole Rouse, Landon Tardif, and Kingston Inman made sure their goalie had the support he needed.  They dug hard in the corners, and cleared the puck from the defensive zone just like Dion Phaneuf  (and I mean just like Dion Phaneuf ).  They helped keep the Cyclones at 1 goal.

Jake Lavers put on an offensive display scoring his first hat trick of the season and Brayden Martynuik scored his first career OMHA goal.  The offence was on fire with the relentless fore check  and play making provided by forwards Christian Markic, Gavin Sorensen,  Kate Stuart, Hudson Bradford and Locklin Diver.  It was a true team effort.   Meckenzie Brannigan was a last minute scratch with an undisclosed upper body injury but was cheering on her team-mates from the press box.

The highlight of the afternoon was Kingston Inman who played some of his best hockey of his career on defence by being aggressive on the puck and never giving up.  He was awarded the “Grit Grinder Player of the Game” hard hat  by the coaching staff and is well deserved.

The Stars next match up is on December 13th  at 2pm versus the Creemore Hawks.

GO STARS !
