Essa Eagles Red visit Wasaga for a match up vs the Stars
%^&*&*^$#$@&*^$!!! ..... that was the reaction by the coaching staff after Saturday’s game vs the Eagles.

The coaches were lost for words as the game ended on Saturday not because they won the game but HOW the team won the game.

The Stars scored 6 goals from 5 different players which speaks so much to how the team played together for the win.   Brayden Martynuik (2), Christian Markic, Locklin Diver, Hudson Bradford and Jake Lavers all netted goals for the home team.   From the very first face off the Stars seemed to have that extra effort.  With relentless fore-checking and winning the small battles in the corners the Stars were putting what they learned at practice to good use.  Meckenzie Brannigan had her first start in net and played a fantastic game keeping the Eagles to only 1 goal.

Some highlight reel plays and unselfish hockey were all part of today’s big win.   Late in the first period the Stars were grinding in the Eagles corner when rookie sensation, Jack Cameron, who was called up from the minors to replace Landon Tardif who was trying out for the Lightning in Florida, made a pass to his defenseman Brayden Martynuik who stepped into a one timer (Fulton) slap shot from the point and hammered it home from 30 feet.    Jake Lavers made a defensive zone rush from behind his net and made a brilliant bank pass from his blue line to his center Christian Markic who split the Eagles defense and scored on a breakaway.  Throughout the game the entire Stars roster worked together and supported one another on the bench which was great to watch.

Locklin Diver had a stand out game playing hard every shift and being strong on the puck.  He was awarded with a goal in the first period by playing his position and making a second effort in front of the net.   Needless to say Locklin earned the Grit Grinder player of the game.

The Stars face off against the Essa Eagles Black to finish off their home at home weekend.

Go Stars.
