Stars In a Slump
After a long winning streak, including a tournament win in Arthur, the Wasaga Stars have fallen into a mid-season slump. 4 straight losses in regular season play and not a strong finish in the Silver Stick tournament have made for a tough couple weeks. However, even in the tough losses, lessons have been learned and the team has really been able to see areas that need to be improved.
The coaching staff continues to teach key positioning, breakout and checking strategies and urges the players to stay out of the penalty box, goals against while being shorthanded has been a major contributor to the slump.  A midseason team meeting and coaches meeting was held this past week, reinforcing team rules and how to win and lose as a team, how to support each other on and off the ice and ensuring the players are ready for each and every game.
Not to fear, the past few games have been very exciting hockey at times,  with super plays by all of the players. The expectation is that the Stars will soon break this streak and come out faster and stronger than ever and position themselves for a great second half and playoff. GO STARS!
