Tyke 1 Stars Travel to Stayner for Tournament!!
The Tyke 1 Wasaga Stars traveled to Stayner, Saturday January 3rd for a one day tournament coming back to the Beach with a 1-2 record.

With Coach Jenn feeling under the weather, Coach Matt took the reigns as head coach.  The first game of the day the Stars and the Orange Tigers from Barrie had a even match up being tied after the first frame.  With a pep talk from Coach Matt in between the first and second, the Stars didn't hold back anymore.  With a five goal performance from Jake L and the Double Hatty from Zachary V, the hats were being released from the heavens, filling the ice surface.  A great defensive effort from the "Twisted Sisters", Chyna S. and Bella G, on the back end gave the Stars the upper hand against the Tigers.  With the back stopping of Carsten K. between the pipes having a solid game.  The highlight of the game came in the final minute of the third period when the "Bash Brothers", Mason B. and Jacob D. set up for the final goal.  Mason B. had one of the Tigers pinned against the boards when the puck popped out right on the stick of Jacob D. as he was skating towards the Tigers net and slipped it past the goalie for his first career goal.

After the victory against the Tigers, the Stars took on a hot Stayner Cyclone team.  With only an hour rest between games, the Stars came out sluggish and tired.  With some big face off wins from Aedan T., it still wasn't enough to keep the Cyclones off the board.  With Adrian D. being the Workhorse of the Woven Workshop, there were only so many saves he could make from the firing squad from Stayner.  The Stars got on the board twice with goals from Carsten K. and Zachary V.  With a great effort by all the kids, they still came up short in the end and had to wait to see who they would play next.

As it would play out, the Stars would have to have a rematch with the Stayner Cyclone team for the "B" Championship.  The Stars would come out of the gate hard and fast like it was the Kentucky Derby.  With hard forechecking from Nicky B., the Tyke 1 team would come out of the first period only down by one.  Kate S. was throwing cookies away while being the Pastry Chef of the Piped Pantry, stopping the Cyclones at every turn until they found her weak spot on the top shelf were Grandma keeps her treats.  The Tyke 1 Wasaga Stars had a great tournament and the coaching staff was proud of all the kids for there effort.

The Tyke 1 Wasaga Stars travel to Coldwater to take on the Wildcats on Sunday January 4th.
