Wasaga Stars Tyke 1 Jake L. On Fire
The Wasaga Beach Tyke 1 Stars hosted the Coldwater Wildcats in their home opener on Saturday January 24th.
The kids were pumped up and ready to roll in front of a packed Wasaga Stars Arena. It was standing room only at the rink and the crowd really got the team fired up for a fierce battle with the Wildcats. With the "Twisted Sisters", Chyna S. and Bella G. starting on the point, you could see the fear of the Coldwater team before the puck even dropped. Zach V. got the Stars on the board first, with his first of two on the afternoon. The hard defensive play from Aedan T. and Carsten K. helped get Zach into the open for his tally. Colwyn R. had a stellar game with his hard fore checking and almost putting one past the Wildcats keeper.
Newcomer to the team Cooper H., had a great first game with the Stars, showing off his moves. The "Bash Brothers", Mason B. and Jacob D. had the force with them, knocking pucks out of the air, clearing the front of the net. Nicky B. was grinding in the corners, using the boards at every chance he had. The "Inmate of the Iron Igloo", Kate S. put on a show between the pipes, stopping the Wildcats on numerous occasions.
The story of the game came from our "Play Maker of The Game", Jake L., with a five goal performance on the afternoon, by the end of the game, all you could hear were cheers from the crowd, screaming, "JAKE, JAKE, JAKE"!!! A fantastic game by all the kids. In an interview with the press after the game, Coach Matt aka The King of Queens said, "It was a great effort by all the kids, the coaching staff is pleased with the way the team is improving, it will be gut check time when we face the Coyotes in 2 weeks."
The Stars will be host to the Elmvale Coyotes #1 on February 7th at 12:10 pm. GO STARS!!
