Tyke 1 Stars Come up Short Versus Coyotes
The Wasaga Beach Tyke 1 Stars hosted the Elmvale Coyotes Saturday afternoon.  With the icey cold temperatures gone for a few days, the Stars were hot to trot and excited for the battle of highway 92.

The Stars did a great job getting ready for the game, knowing they had a short bench. With Mason B. out day to day with a flu bug and Zach V. sitting out for a suspension for wearing a track suit to the game a la Evander Kane, (Zach is on a family vacation)the Stars got out to a slower start then they would have liked.  The "Representative of the Roped Resort", Nicky B. held the Stars in the game, making Dominic Hasek like saves giving the Stars a chance to make a come back.
The defensive duo of Jacob D. and Adrian D. had a great day on the back end, cleaning all the garbage in front of the net.  The "Twisted Sisters", Bella G. and Chyna S. we're finally paired back together after a couple games apart. They didn't miss a beat.  The only beating they gave was to the Coyotes, a crazy Elmvale parent even called the SPCA on the "Twisted Sisters".
The trio of Aedan T., Carsten K. and Cooper H. were flying like a 747.  Aedan was hot on the face offs, Carsten was checking hard along the boards and Cooper was sacrificing his body blocking shot after shot.  Kate S. was carving through the ice with each stride she made with her blonde locks flowing behind her.  Jake L. was having some trouble getting the puck out of the Stars zone, until Coach Matt told Jake to start going to the middle.  Jake did exactly what Coach Matt said and weaved his way through the Coyotes and got off a great wrist shot, only to see it hit the corner of the cross bar and post.
The "Playmaker of the Game" went to Colwyn R. who played his position on the side boards, always ready for the outlet pass, and his great back checking in the defensive zone.
The Wasaga Beach Tyke 1 Stars travel to Penetang on Sunday February 22nd to play the Flames.  Hopefully fire fighter Coach Kevin can give the kids some pointers on how to extinguish the Flames and turn around this losing streak.
